COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

Which shoulder conditions may be treated with TAME?

Shoulder embolization has mainly been studied for persistent adhesive capsulitis, commonly called frozen shoulder, and chronic shoulder tendinopathy that has not improved with conservative treatment.

A medical evaluation and imaging are needed to determine whether your pain may be appropriate for treatment. (PubMed)

No. TAME does not reconnect or repair a torn tendon.

It may help reduce inflammation-related pain in selected patients with tendinopathy or certain partial tears, but a complete or unstable tear may require orthopedic evaluation and surgery.

A steroid injection delivers anti-inflammatory medication directly into or around the shoulder. Its effect may be temporary and varies between patients.

TAME uses a catheter to reduce abnormal blood flow associated with chronic inflammation. The most appropriate treatment depends on the cause of your pain and previous response to treatment.

The catheter access site is numbed using local anesthesia. You may feel a brief pinch or pressure when the anesthetic is administered.

Most patients feel little discomfort while the catheter is inside the artery. Tell our team immediately if you experience pain.

Results vary. Some patients may begin noticing changes within several weeks, while others experience gradual improvement over several months.

TAME does not guarantee complete pain relief, and not every patient responds in the same way.

TAME does not alter the bones, joint, or tendons, so it generally does not prevent future surgery.

Patients with significant structural damage may still require orthopedic treatment or surgery later.

Shoulder arterial embolization is an emerging treatment. Studies have reported encouraging improvements in pain, mobility, and function, particularly for treatment-resistant frozen shoulder and tendinopathy.

However, much of the available evidence comes from relatively small, nonrandomized studies. Larger controlled trials are still needed. (PubMed)

Coverage varies by insurance plan and may be limited because TAME for chronic shoulder pain is still an emerging treatment.

Our team will verify your benefits, authorization requirements, and possible out-of-pocket costs before scheduling treatment.

High Cholesterol Is Not Just a Heart Problem. What It Is Doing to the Arteries in Your Legs | HVLC

When someone gets a high cholesterol result, the conversation almost always goes the same direction: heart disease risk, statins, diet changes, and keeping an eye on blood pressure. All of that is appropriate. But there is something consistently missing from that conversation. The same cholesterol buildup that narrows the arteries near your heart does the exact same thing to the arteries supplying your legs. And for a lot of patients managing high cholesterol, nobody has told them that.

Knee Pain at Night: Why It Gets Worse When You Stop Moving | HVLC Bakersfield

Knee Pain at Night: Why It Gets Worse When You Stop Moving and What It Could Mean Most people expect joint pain to get worse during activity. Push it too hard, feel it afterward. That logic makes sense. So when knee pain is worst at night, when you are lying still, not putting any weight on it, not doing anything at all, it catches people off guard. Some assume they slept in a bad position. Others take a painkiller and try to push through. What fewer people know is that nighttime knee pain has a specific meaning. It is not random. It is telling you something about what is driving the pain, and it points directly toward a mechanism that standard treatments often miss.

What Happens to Your Legs When You Sit All Day | HVLC Bakersfield

What Happens to Your Legs When You Sit All Day. And Why It Matters More Than You Think sitting all day effects on leg circulation poor circulation vascular health Bakersfield Most people know that sitting too much is not great for them. They have heard it enough times. But the conversation usually stays vague, centered around back pain, posture, or burning calories. What gets far less attention is what prolonged sitting does specifically to the blood flow in your legs. And for a significant number of people, particularly those with diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of heart disease, the effects are not just discomfort. They are the early stages of a real vascular problem.
