HOW IT WORKS

Mechanochemical Ablation (MOCA) in 4 Simple Steps

  • A minimally invasive, ultrasound-guided treatment with no heat or multiple numbing injections along the vein.

01

Ultrasound Mapping

Ultrasound maps the affected vein and guides precise catheter placement.

02

Catheter Insertion

The entry site is numbed, and a thin catheter is guided into the vein.

03

Mechanical Action + Medication

A rotating wire and medication work together to close the vein.

04

Same-Day Discharge

The catheter is removed, a small bandage is applied, and you return home the same day.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Frequently asked questions

What is MOCA?

MOCA stands for mechanochemical ablation. It combines mechanical action from a rotating catheter tip with sclerosant medication to close the affected vein.

RFA uses radiofrequency heat to close the vein. MOCA does not use thermal energy and usually avoids multiple tumescent anesthesia injections along the vein.

The entry site is numbed before the catheter is inserted. Most patients experience only mild pressure, pulling, or temporary discomfort during treatment.

MOCA is performed as an outpatient procedure, and many patients return to light daily activities shortly afterward. Individual recovery instructions may vary.

Not necessarily. A duplex ultrasound and vascular evaluation are needed to determine whether MOCA is appropriate for your vein anatomy, symptoms, and medical history.

Knee Pain at Night: Why It Gets Worse When You Stop Moving | HVLC Bakersfield

Knee Pain at Night: Why It Gets Worse When You Stop Moving and What It Could Mean Most people expect joint pain to get worse during activity. Push it too hard, feel it afterward. That logic makes sense. So when knee pain is worst at night, when you are lying still, not putting any weight on it, not doing anything at all, it catches people off guard. Some assume they slept in a bad position. Others take a painkiller and try to push through. What fewer people know is that nighttime knee pain has a specific meaning. It is not random. It is telling you something about what is driving the pain, and it points directly toward a mechanism that standard treatments often miss.

What Happens to Your Legs When You Sit All Day. And Why It Matters More Than You Think sitting all day effects on leg circulation poor circulation vascular health Bakersfield Most people know that sitting too much is not great for them. They have heard it enough times. But the conversation usually stays vague, centered around back pain, posture, or burning calories. What gets far less attention is what prolonged sitting does specifically to the blood flow in your legs. And for a significant number of people, particularly those with diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of heart disease, the effects are not just discomfort. They are the early stages of a real vascular problem.
