Dr. Vinod Kumar is a distinguished interventional cardiologist with over three decades of experience in cardiovascular medicine. He serves as the Medical Director of the Heart, Vascular, and Leg Center in Bakersfield, California, a role he has held since 1992. Additionally, he is a Clinical Instructor at UCLA, where he contributes to the training of future physicians.

Dr. Kumar completed his Interventional Cardiology fellowship at UCLA School of Medicine, following a Cardiology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine and an Internal Medicine residency at Wayne State University. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Vascular Medicine, and Endovascular Medicine.

Throughout his career, Dr. Kumar has held leadership positions, including Chairman of Cardiology and Director of the Cardiac Cath Lab at San Joaquin Hospital. He has also served as President of the American Heart Association’s Kern County Chapter. His dedication to cardiovascular research has led to numerous publications, clinical trials, and conference presentations.

Dr. Kumar’s contributions have been recognized with multiple honors, including the Physician of the Year Award from the U.S. Congress (2003) and the Ronald Reagan Gold Medal for Outstanding Community Service (2004). Passionate about patient education, he developed the “Good Family, Good Heart” program and authored the book Creating Heart Health in 2011.

His expertise spans advanced coronary and peripheral vascular interventions, and he remains actively involved in pioneering treatments to improve patient outcomes.
