Varicose Veins are a sign of venous insufficiency. The condition is more common in women and worsens with age. It is estimated that by the age 50, 41% of women will be affected by varicose veins. While varicose veins do cause cosmetic concerns, they can be debilitating, causing pain and fatigue and in some cases be a limb-threatening condition.

There’s good news for patients with varicose veins and Chronic Venous Insufficiency (C.V.I.).
Heart Vascular & Leg offers Venefit™, an out-patient, minimally invasive radiofrequency treatment. This innovative technology delivers precise radiofrequency energy to the affected vessel via a catheter. The RF energy creates heat which causes the enlarged vein to collapse. Once the affected vein closes, blood will recirculate through other, healthy veins.
This Venefit procedure is completed in about an hour at our Bakersfield office. Patients report little or no discomfort and most return to work or normal activity the same day.
Most medical insurance covers the Venefit procedure. Our office will handle all of the necessary paperwork and billing.

Healthy leg veins have valves the open and close to circulate blood from the lower extremities back to the heart. Chronic Venous Insufficiency, also know as Venous Reflux Disease, occurs when the valves do not function properly. As a result, you may experience:

Additional Treatments Include:
Surface Sclerotherapy – When spider veins become bothersome, we can treat them using sclerotherapy. This procedure involves using a tiny needle to inject a special solution into the problem vein, which causes the vein to collapse and be absorbed by the body naturally. The procedure typically takes about 30 minutes and recovery time is minimal. The treated veins may be tender but are not activity-limiting for most patients.
Ultrasound Guided Sclerotherapy – Used for varicose veins, this form of sclerotherapy uses ultrasound to guide the placement of the solution.
Radiofrequency Ablation (RF) – This nonsurgical, minimally invasive procedure uses radiofrequency to deliver heat through a tiny catheter into a problem vein to close it off and dissolve it.
Microphlebectomy – This minor surgical procedure removes larger varicose veins. We use tiny incisions to remove sections of veins at the surface of the skin. No stitches are required.
Compression Therapy – For a more conservative approach to vein treatment, we will prescribe prescription-strength compression stockings to alleviate painful symptoms. Many insurance companies require that we try this treatment for 3-4 months before trying any of the above procedures.
