Patient with diabetes should have regular foot screenings and be screened for peripheral arterial disease, at least every 6 months.

Diabetic foot ulcers are generally painless, but they can be slow to heal and prone to infection. They are commonly located on the bottom of the foot.

Multiple factors can contribute to diabetic foot ulcers including:

  • Poor circulation
  • Foot deformities
  • Lack of feeling (neuropathy)
